It was, indeed, a night of fans interaction, comic relief, energetic display and great musical performance as well as a thrilling journey into the world of ‘Becoming The Bahd Guy’ as the lawyer turned rapper, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz the Bahd Guy on Friday, July 13 shut down the fourth edition of ‘Trace Live’ music concert, which held at the Terra Kulture Arena, Victoria Island, Lagos with his electrifying performance that got the audience captivated.

Tagged, ‘Trace Live presents Becoming FalzTheBahdGuy’, the night began with Falz supported by the alternate sound band, taking to the stage in a black top as he comically engaged the fans for the first few minutes as he demanded, ‘’I want you all to make some noise’’.

Standing motionless for impact, the rapper thanked everyone for coming out, and then began the story of his journey into ‘Becoming Falz the Bahd Guy’.

He opened proceedings by rendering songs from the time he started music professionally in 2009, a phase he termed as the ‘Before The Blow’ era.

He began his performance with the song, Shakara, a track from his debut project, Shakara The Mixtape, and then moved to the WazUp Guy album, which he released in 2014, and termed it ‘H’almost Popular Era’.

In a bid to know his real fans who have been there from day one, Falz shared his near death experience in November 2013 on his way to Benin for a show, and this led to rendering the next set of songs — Cool Party, 123, Toyin Tomato, Jessica, High Class, Currency and Marry Me.

He narrated how he met producer, Sess The Problem Kid, which birthed well-received album, Stories That Touch, and performed songs like Clap, Karashika, Celebrity Girlfriend, Well done Sir, Ello Bae and Soldier, which got the crowd singing along to every line.

Moving into the second half of the gig, the rapper brought his game to the modern day era and opened with the controversial single, This is Nigeria.

He then brought singer, Sir Dauda on stage, who he officially introduced as the first signeeg under the Bahd Guy Record imprint.

“This guy here is the future”, Falz declared while welcoming Sir Dauda on stage.

He presented him with a gold chain to the admiration of the crowd before they went on to perform the hit single, Boogie from the rapper ’s third studio album, 27, which drew emotional response from the crowd.

Sir Dauda who featured on two songs — Boogie and Confirm, both of the 27 project, has also worked with the rap crew, Show Dem Camp on a number of songs including Badagry and Live, Love, Laugh, Eat and singer Aramide on Funmi L’Owo in 2016, is known for his distinct voice and delivery.

From being a storyteller to the energetic party starter, Falz was every bit of a showman, as he possessed the ability to switch up the show.

He also entertained questions from his Twitter fans during the interlude.

He rounded off the evening performing other songs from his last album as the crowd got to their feet, singing and dancing to the journey that started in his university room leading to his (Falz) becoming the Bahd Guy.

The event had in attendance top industry personalities like Sam Onyemelukwe, Head of Trace Naija, Obi Asika of Cabal Entertainment, Tec of SDC, Skuki, Sess The Prblm Kid among others.
