Ex-Cross-River First Lady, Obioma Imoke Retains Pet Project
ONE of former Nigerian first ladies who has distinguished herself with her pet project is the immediate past First Lady of Cross River State, Obioma Imoke, the beautiful wife of ex-governor Liyel Imoke. Obioma has no doubt broken that jinx of abandoning a pet project once their husbands exit power.
Obioma, who is desirous of having her project outlive her, recently partnered with First Bank for the sustenance and continuity of her pet project where a fund raising dinner was held in her honour and her Women Developpment and Child Protection Centre (WODAC), a house that houses all of her projects.
The projects are: Destiny Child Centre, for rehabilitation of street children in Calabar; the Mothers Against Child Abandonment Movement, aimed at helping teenage girls put in the family way and abandoned; Partnership Opportunities for Women Economic Realization, aimed at changing the economic status of women at grassroots level, as well as the Giving Life Opportunities to Widows, for financial and moral assistance, all of which are aimed at bequeathing posterity to her legacies.
