For upcoming Afro Hip Hop artiste, Imonitie Kevin Amiator, known by the stage name, KPress, the road to the top is clear and non-negotiable as he begins his journey into the entertainment world with his debut album One Time.

According to the Ekpoma, Edo state born artiste, music has been a burning passion and desire since he was in the secondary school. “It has always been my dream to be a musician. I started singing when I was a little boy and fate made me come in contact with two friends that were interested and good in music,” he said.

“We started in class while in secondary. As students, we formed a three-man group. We were strong and active performing before I travelled to Europe. I have come to realise that music is a path I’m meant to go and I’m putting all I have into it. I’m particular about touching peoples’ life with what I do, singing about life, love and the environment,” KPress added.

He noted that leaving the shores of the country was not easy but life in Europe is better as you get a different mindset, and when you come back to the country that mindset pushes you to do things better and differently.

“I enjoy listening to music from other artistes because I get a lot of inspiration listening to other people. I love 2Face Idibia and the power he carries when he sings. He is always connected to the people and he knows what his fans wants.”

KPress explained that he chose music as profession, urging his fans to expect good music from him. “I am into music to give my fans nothing but good music, and to keep give hope to other upcoming artistes that they can also go far in the industry, no matter their background. There are raw talents out there like me in the streets that can become stars.”

Asked his parents reaction when opted for music as a profession, the third and the last child of his parents says, “My parents were so supportive and helped me think of ideas. They are my cheerleader and they have supported my music career from start. All they care about was to see me succeed in life and when the issue of music came up, they throw their weight behind me.”

He continues: “Inspirational songs may not make waves in the market but that is the only song that can stand the test of time. They remain evergreen for years. Mature minds that are interested in moral society supports good music; most of the songs the youth consider as hit are not because there is nothing inspirational in them.”
