A firm, Diamond Waste Recycling Limited, in partnership with Pakam, the Local Economic Development Association and Community Action against Plastic Waste (CAPWS), has empowered women and youths on how to turn wastes into wealth.
This collaboration aims to revolutionise sustainable practices and foster a community-driven approach to environmental responsibility.
They, therefore, envisioned a future where recycling would not only contribute to waste reduction but also create economic opportunities for individuals involved.
Co-founder of Diamond Waste Recycling Limited, Jacinta Anyaeri, who spoke at the launch of the new recycling hub, said they were strongly committed to empowering people on how recycling reduces hazards to nature and the environment as well as creating jobs at all levels.
She said: “We strive to maximise the recycling potential of everyone. We are a growing community coaching a culture of sustainability and inspiring others to join the movement towards a cleaner and healthier world.”
Also, Executive Chairman, Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), AkinsanyaLasisiAyinde, while launching four tricycles for the hub, commended the efforts of the recycling companies.
Akinsanya also encouraged people, both young and old, to embrace the opportunity and make use of it as it provides a source of income and a proper way to dispose wastes.
He further urged Nigerians not to be discouraged but give the current administration time to revamp the country’s economy.
