A land deal involving a Lagos-based estate surveyor and a business man over 150 plots of land situated at Ifedele Agunbiade Village Sangotedo, Eti-Osa Local Government has resulted to alleged threat to his life.

The chartered surveyor, Emeka Okoronkwo of Kings Court Realtors, and Mr. Kennedy Nwabuoku of KenBuok Global Investments Limited allegedly consummated the deal valued at N787 million last year.

According to the deal, Nwabuoku paid N577million being 75 per cent of the total sum N787 million at the rate of N5.2millon per plot.

Afterwards, Mr. Nwabuoku was handed over the Original Certificate of Occupancy, along with the Deed of Assignment and a Power of Attorney, duly vesting the land in his company, his designated beneficiary and the receipts duly acknowledged.

But trouble started when Nwabuoku, who paid for 75per cent of the total cost, which is equivalent to 100 plots allegedly refused to balance up the sum even though the title was for 150 plots.

According to the matter, Nwabuoku was allegedly to been unable to effect the refund and had asked Mr. Okonrokwo for time to effect the refund, which he was still unable to do after three months. The refund to Mr. Okoronkwo of the balance sum paid on his behalf to the owners of the land allegedly remains owed and outstanding to date , a debt Mr Kennedy Nwabuoku acknowledged in writing.

Mr. Nwabuoku subsequent, on visiting the land, asked Mr. Okoronkwo to sell the 50 plots the sum advanced on his behalf, as the location of the land was different from the one he was under the impression he was purchasing and that he was having difficulties raising more money from investors on that account.

But Okoronkwo explained that he would require Mr. Nwabuoku to convey the 50 plots to him as he was now the owner of the entire 150 plots with an attendant Power of Attorney. Nwabuoku allegedly responded by saying he wanted out of the transaction completely.
Sensing that Mr. Nwabuoku did not intend to refund his money or convey the 50 plots to him, Okoronkwo wrote a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission asking the Commission to look into the transaction and have Mr. Nwabuoku refund his money.

However, Nwabuoku on the other hand, wrote to the Inspector General of Police, alleging that he was defrauded by Mr. Okonrokwo , alleging that the title documents, he was given was fake and that the deeds of Assignment contained fictitious names. He also alleged that the documents received by him are incapable of conveying title to him.

However , Okoronkwo, who denied all these allegations was arrested on November 8, by the police on the prompting of Nwabuoku. He was allegedly denied bail, while he collapsed in the hospital on the night of November 15 due to alleged inhuman treatment meted to him by the police.

The estate surveyor is now calling on the police authority, the presidency and all well spirited Nigerians to come to his aid for the alleged threat to his life and the campaign of calumny mounted against him over the land deal.
