AS part of move to militate against environmental degradation and global warming, which has become a global phenomenon, the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed has reiterated the commitment of the Federal government in ensuring environment-friendly ecosystem.

Speaking at the launch of a product designed to save fuel and reduce the volume of emission released into the atmosphere from car engines, the minister said the introduction of the product was in tandem with the reality that the environment can no longer tolerate anything being pushed into it as the environment in turn, will give back to the society whatever was deposited into it.

The minister who was represented by the director general of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Lawrence Anukan, said the development of new technology to combat environmental degradation and the attitude of the people towards the environment are key factors that needed to be considered seriously if Nigeria would be placed on the same pedestal with the rest of the world in the quest to fight global warming.

‘’We strongly believe that the society needs this kind of products, it has been said to reduce fuel consumption by 30 percent and emission by 80 per cent.  My first concern was whether the product had met the certification of the standards organization of Nigeria (SON) and the answer was in the affirmative.  That means that it can be sold in Nigeria market.

“The issue of environment is one that should be taken seriously, we cannot continue to abuse the environment and expect it to give us its best. “
