Spurred by the positive outlook for retail sector this year, one of the leading indigenous retail firms, Hubmart Stores Limited has expanded its portfolios with a new market in Lagos.

Located near Lekki first roundabout, Admiralty way, the outlet, which opened for business on Friday, was in demonstration of Hubmart’s confidence in the Nigerian economy, which flowed from the announcement of a 0.55per cent GDP growth in Q2 2017.

It also followed recent trends christened: “small is the new big”, which developers across retail, residential, industrial and hospitality sectors now favour against large sized projects.

The outlet would provide employment to over 100 Nigerians 60 per cent of which would be sourced from the local community, and serve as a source of livelihood to many more via the extended circle of influence on the local communities

Managing Director of Hubmart, Murat Bektaslar, who conducted newsmen around the facility with some officials of the company, said the new outlet situated at 740 square metres is part of its tradition of bringing satisfaction close to the homes of its teeming customers.

The outlet was in partnership of Lenox Mall located beside The Place in Lekki with four check units to give customer exciting fresh experience.

According to him, following confidence, the firm had in Nigeria retail market, it opened three shops in three years and was aimed at opening four other outlets before the end of 2018.

He said: “Despite the difficult times experienced in 2016, the future of retail market is very bright in Nigeria. There are encouraging signals of stability for 2018 -2019, there are greater opportunity for retail future hence the firm is targeting three outlets more this year

He stressed that it was the first time, the firm, is entering into synergy with an experience mall operator like Lenox because of the need to meet the peculiarities of the Lekki customers.

Bektaslar said, the outlet was purposefully designed to create an environment guaranteed to give customers a comprehensive Shopping experience and further enhance Hubmart’s burgeoning reputation as one of the best destinations for shoppers in the country.

Apart from some of the community development efforts embarked upon, the business, he said, was poised to engage and positively impact the local community with the array of initiatives in the pipeline.

For a representative of Lenox mall, Mr. Chika Okoye, the choice of partnership with Hubmart was based on its record and success stories and opportunity of a growing economy.

He listed the feature of the mall to include good location easier accessibility, air conditioned building and secured environments and 24 hours power back up.
