CONSTRUCTION is in top gear on yet another real estate investment capable of boosting the retail market of the commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry, as developers are working towards delivering Oasis Centre in the heart of the capital city of Lagos, Ikeja.

The development also known as Nigeria Police Cooperative Multipurpose Centre, when completed, would further add value to the Centre of Excellence, increasing retail activities within the sub-sector.

Located along the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja – Lagos, the retail and hospitality, occupies a 6,100-square metre land size. The seven-floors edifice was designed to accommodate 200 hotel rooms.

Other features include 240 capacity car park, meeting rooms, gymnasium, spa/sauna and what the developer described as ‘infinity swimming pool’.

The project is jointly owned by Nigeria Police Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited and Mall D’ Oasis Shopping Centre Limited. Other consultants include Denver Building (main contractor) while Consultants Collaborative Partnership is the design consultant.

However, the developers are working towards ensuring the completion of the project this year. The project, is proposed for completion in 2017.

“The Oasis Centre is a mixed-use scheme with retail and hospitality elements, designed to provides leasable retail space, spread evenly across the ground and first floor, including a 200-room hotel, which is to be managed by an international brand.

Proposed amenties aremeeting rooms, gym, spa/sauna, and swimming pool and an exclusive rooftop lounge and bar for hotel use only”.

The Guardian gathered the developers are keen on creating a one-stop destination for shopping, fashion, restaurants, and hotel accommodation.

Sources disclosed that the choice of the location was informed by its central location and close proximity with well-known hotels that including the Sheraton and Protea Hotels, all in Ikeja.

“Depending on the building specification of hotel rooms at the Oasis Centre, the 200-room in addition, would create a more competition environment in the affected region.

“From a retail perspective, the only other modern shopping mall in Ikeja is Ikeja City Mall, a 22,000sqm mall, which was recently acquired by South African investors.

“However, Purple Capital, a Lagos-based investor intends on changing this with their flagship retail development – Maryland Mall, a 7,000sqm retail centre on Ikorodu road. Maryland Mall is scheduled for completion in second quarter of 2016.”

However, the Police Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Olabisi Alofe-Kolawole, could not confirm the exact date for the completion of the project, but hinted that the project is fully on course.

“I am not in position to state when the project would be completed, but I know that work is in progress. However, when the project is completed, it would serve the police and the public in general”, she assured.
