Archibuilt kicks off today in Abuja

The 29th edition of Archibuilt exhibition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) will commence today at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The 29th edition of Archibuilt exhibition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) will commence today at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

Archibuilt is an annual exhibition-forum that continually brings to the fore trends, technologies, systems, and policy issues that impact the building industry’s intervention and responses to everyday living.

This intervention, intended to generate the framework is championed by architects. Originally midwifed and driven by NIA, Archibuilt was registered as corporate venture under Archibuilt Development Services Limited (ADSL) and has been trading as such since 2012.

The Chairman, ADSL, Jimoh Faworaja, said: “the August event is poised to showcase how professionals, indigenous manufacturers, retailers, and regulators are leveraging the use of innovative technology to tackle the challenges in this constantly evolving and growing building, development and construction sector bringing global standards and practices to Nigeria.

The theme for this year’s exposition is “Driving Nigeria Architecture Through Technology”, a concrete mixture bringing individuals and organizations, to leverage on technology in the building industry.

The programme of activities focuses on using technology in the built and construction industry, a colloquium to learn, connect, showcase and build on innovation.

Participants are expected to engage in trainings, workshops and robust discussions on issues like affordable housing, building technology and relevance, exploring local materials in interior designs, use of building technology to promote Nigeria architecture like training workshop on glass technology and safety in the built environment.

There is also a student’s design competition, which has generated some remarkable submissions on the use of glass technology, and clay products for Eco-friendly sustainable buildings.

Also part of the programme schedule features an array of interactive discussions and brainstorming sessions on eco-friendliness and sustainable housing development, construction and Finance, regulations in the building industry.
