We’ll return PDP to power in Osun, says caretaker committee

The newly appointed chairman of a caretaker committee recently constituted to oversee the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Mr Sarafa Tunji Isola has said that it was on course to reposition the political grouping with the aim of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018 governorship poll.

He said the level of cooperation and spirit of unity displayed by the members of the party in Osun despite differences among major stakeholders, members had resolved to work together to return the party to power in the governorship poll.

Addressing reporters after holding an interactive session with members of the PDP at both two party secretariats at Ogo Oluwa and Biket areas in Osogbo, Isola said the committee was committed to entrenching internal democracy and ensure inclusiveness.

He urged members to begin massive mobilisation in readiness for future polls and learn from the success recorded in the recent Osun West by election, saying the feat was attained due to the unity of purpose and commitment demonstrated by members.

The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development said his mission in Osun was a call to service and unwavering commitment to ensure that all party members were genuinely harmonised to deliver the governorship seat to the PDP and the people in 2018.

Among PDP leaders at the stakeholders meeting were former deputy governor and the party’s standard-bearer in the 2014 gubernatorial election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Olu Alabi, Mr Kayode Oduoye, Prince Diran Odeyemi, Mr Adeyemo Adetise, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and former chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa.

Others were Dr Bayo Faforiji, Prince Bola Ajao; a former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adejare Bello; a former Minister of Youth Development, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and Mr Niyi Owolade
