The senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani, says he is opposed to the sack of over 4,000 district heads and village chiefs by Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai.

Speaking to reporters in Kaduna yesterday, he called on the governor to rescind the decision, saying that there is enough money to pay the traditional rulers.Sani while condemning the sack of the traditional Chiefs, said it was unethical and unconstitutional to award contracts to civil servants and elected public officers.

His words:” I am opposed to the dropping of this 4,766 district heads, for the very fact that they are a very strong instrument of peace and unity. I call on the governor to rescind the decision. There is enough money to pay them.

“We have a government that is awarding contracts to advisers, members of the state house of assembly and the people in the position of authority, which is contrary to the ethics of civil service.

“In that sense, it is appalling to insult the PDP government of corruption and right here in the state, you have public office holders, submitting companies slot for contract.

“We should understand it is not about N3 billion, there are ethical issues concerned, a civil servant is not allowed to be a contractor.“It is nepotism to send your son, your wife, to do contract. It is against the code of conduct of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for an elected civil servant to engage in contract, that is very wrong,’’ he concluded.
