PDP’s chances brighter in Kogi State, says Wada

Former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has dismissed insinuation he would impose his stooge that would contest the next governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He explained that the era when leaders impose their wish on the people to accept what they don’t want is over; the people know their right so I believe they have seen the difference and so they would be able to make up their minds. What is left for the Kogi PDP is to work together collectively as a unit.

Idris, who said he would have ordinarily retired from active politics but for the need to salvage Kogi from the present doldrums and poverty inflicted by APC.

According to him, “Don’t make the mistake that I am bringing any candidate. It is God that chooses. Mine is to work collectively with everybody and get the right person who is honest, transparent, educated, a young man, intelligent and above all he must have the fear of God.”

The former governor said a situation whereby their party was in power and that power was taken away by another party there was bound to be lost of confidence leading to disarray, “our defeat at the 2015 polls was due to some mistakes on the part of the leaders. Although, it was normal in the life of a party we have learnt our lesson.

“If you are doing well people will vote for you, I was in charge for nine years and it was PDP all the way, I never thought that another party could just come and take over but it is not impossible.

“It happened because we were dealing with human begins and people of this modern age know their rights, even those you think are in the remotest of villages, in fact they know better those in the so-called townships. So you cannot underrate anybody now.”

He said what happened was, the people used their votes to protest for what really they wanted.

“You know it has been said that until you have two wives you would not know the one that loves you most. I think it was a test of what people have learnt and their opinion for them to have voted PDP out in Kogi State, we still believe that we can still get back that lost glory if we are able to work together collectively as a unit, it would be an easy thing.
