Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has declared total support for the national leadership of the party led by its chairman Dr. Victor Ike Oye. It has also backed Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano’s reelection bid at the November 18, 2017 poll.

Also in Ogun State, supporters of Governor Ibikunle Amosun group under the aegis of League of National Patriots (LNP) have endorsed the gubernatorial aspiration of House of Representatives member, Hon. Adekunle Abdukabir Akinlade, popularly known as Triple A, on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

APGA, in a statement by its chairman, Mr. Augustine Coker and publicity secretary, Mr. Kola Ogunyinka, in Abeokuta, also dissociated themselves from a faction of the party led by Martin Agbasso, which they described as illegal, “arising from the unconstitutional takeover of power.”

The party vowed to reject any attempt by any individual to impose any form of change on them without following the party’s constitution: “We also condemn in totality any form of political brigandage and gangsterism that are planning to overthrow, unconstitutionally, an authority that was properly elected in 2015 national convention of the party in Akwa.”

At press conference in Abeokuta, the spokesperson of the group in Ogun, Comrade Hassan Omotayo Isaka, stated that their choice became necessary to ensure that the state was in safe hands after Amosun’s administration.

His words: “Triple A has demonstrated his visionary quality in his #3030 promise which according him is designed to give 30 per cent of his appointments to youths under the age of 30 years. We are therefore leaving no stone unturned to mobilize a minimum of one million youth across Ogun State to support this great youngman.

“We are all aware of the ongoing effort by some individuals from Lagos to hijack the politics of Ogun towards the 2019 general elections using their money. This as far as we concerned are clear plots to add Ogun to their already existing hegemony. We want to assure them that Ogun State is not for sale and not for the highest bidder and our people cannot be bought by money. When the time is ripe, we shall demonstrate our capacity to take our destiny into our hands to ensure that only the candidate we can trust and identify with in APC takes over from Senator Amosun.”

The group, therefore, called on the people of Yewa land to fully grab this historic opportunity to give the people of the state the candidate that possesses the true character and potentials needed to “consolidate on the good work of the leader and father of modern the state, Senator Amosun for fairness, justice and equity which rightly zoned the next governorship ticket to Yewa land.”

LNP’s founder and national coordinator, Mallam Abdulkareem Ikharo, noted that “this period is indeed time to test the resolve and oneness of the Yewa people.”

He urged them to unite and ensure the right candidate that truly has the love of the state is given this historic opportunity and be wary of the “desperate antics of moneybags who are bent on hijacking Ogun State and the potentials of its commerce and industry to meet their personal interest at the expense of the people.”

The group added that it has commenced voluntary and self-financed strategies to sensitize the youth to key into the drive to make the legislator the next governor in 2019.
