No timetable for 2019 General elections yet, says INEC

Reacting to enquiries from stakeholders who have sought clarification on the issue, the Commission said in a statement that only the actual dates for the general elections were released.

INEC had in March this year, announced that the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections would hold on February 16, while the Governorship and State Assembly would hold on March 2.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has not yet officially released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2019 general elections.

Reacting to enquiries from stakeholders who have sought clarification on the issue, the Commission said in a statement that only the actual dates for the general elections were released.

INEC had in March this year, announced that the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections would hold on February 16, while the Governorship and State Assembly would hold on March 2.

It had explained that it took the action to standardise the electoral process, ensure certainty in the dates for elections and also allow for proper planning by political parties and all stakeholders.

The statement restated that only the timetable and schedule of activities for the Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections and the Idemili North State Constituency by-election in Anambra State have so far been released, while that of the 2019 general elections would be unveiled in due course.
