NEWLY sworn-in President of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP), Mike Lube- Nwidobie, has called for the speedy composition of the board of trustees and governing board for the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report.
“We have made some achievements, especially on our demand for the implementation of the UNEP study report. We are yet expecting full implementation,” he said.

Lube-Nwidobie, who made the call yesterday in his acceptance speech after being sworn in by the President of the Supreme Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers, King Godwin Gininwa, in Korokoro town, Tai Local Council of Rivers State, also urged youths to shun criminality and political as well as community leaders to be selfless and patriotic.

Let our youths shun criminality but seek to be meaningfully engaged. Let our chiefs be more proactive in their service of leadership. Let our political leaders be truly selfless and patriotic in their utility of the people’s mandate. We have no other place like Ogoni,” he said.

Lube-Nwidobie noted that the Ogoni Bill of Right set a broad road map to the crafting of direction of political emancipation, socio-cultural development, economic empowerment and environmental revival, assuring that his leadership would work assiduously with leaders and concerned stakeholders in bringing the desired development to the people.

Meanwhile, spokesman for the Legborsi Pybara-led faction, Bari Kpalap, has described the entire ceremony as alien to the body.
In a chat yesterday with The Guardian, Kpalap said: “ The swearing in is alien to MOSOP. It is not in their traditional, once a president is elected, he automatically assumes office on January 1st. So, the swearing in of Nwidobie is not recognised,” he contended.
