The Chairman of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in the 2019 elections.

Speaking during his campaign visit to the PDP secretariat in Ondo State, Dokpesi, who is also an aspirant form PDP National Chairman from the South South said he is sure of plans to defeat the APC if elected.

He said the ruling APC had brought alarming division to every part of the country with its policies and programmes in the last two and half years.

The Edo State politician claimed to be the most qualified for the National Chairman of the party, hinging this on his wealth of experience and contributions to the development of the PDP.Said he, “I believe in the PDP and we are going to come to power in 2019. Our youths must be engaged, our women must be empowered and also those who have left the party should return.”

Dokpesi boasted of having the qualities and the capacity to lead the party to victory, saying, “I will bring together the North and the South for the PDP to regain power in 2019 because we want a paradigm shift. The power to elect must be returned to the people and also the interest of the electorate would be mu utmost priority as chairman.”

While soliciting for votes from the delegates ahead of the convention, he promised to bring all members together and secure victory for the party in the 2019 general elections. He said, “I am therefore, pleading with the delegates in Ondo State to give me the chance to become the National Chairman of the party.”

He further said restructuring of the country was the only way Nigeria can survive its present social, economic and political challenges.

The chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Clement Faboyede, lauded Dopkesi for his efforts and roles in building the party, noting that PDP was the only party in the country that cares for the masses. Faboyede, who reaffirmed that APC had meted untold hardship on the people, wished the aspirant success and passed a vote of confidence on his capacity to lead the party.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the party, Prof. Jerry Gana has said that as a result of poor governance in the country and the blunders of the APC, Nigerians are now eagerly waiting for the PDP to return to power in 2019.

He made this known during a consultative meeting between one of the aspirants of the National Chairman, Prof. Tunde Adeniran who met with the delegates of the party from North West in Kaduna on Monday.

Gana said, “Nigerians are tired of APC and they are eagerly waiting for us (PDP) to put our house in order. Agreed we have made mistakes during our 16 years of reign in government but we have learned our lessons and we are telling Nigerians that we are sorry.”

According to him, “We have a duty to restore the hopes of many hopeless Nigerians who now see the PDP as an alternative platform to take over power in 2019.”He told the delegates to use their votes wisely in electing a leader that will take the party to the promise land, saying, ‘Prof. Adeniran is the man that can do that for the party and ordinary Nigerians.

According to the PDP stalwart, they decided to support Adeniran for three reasons: When the party wanted to make a headway in the Southwest in 2003, he helped us to mobilise the people of the zone, secondly, here is a man if elected, the ruling APC will not witch hunt him over corrupt charges, and lastly because as one of the founding fathers of the party, he would move the party forward.

Also speaking, a former National chairman of the party, Dr. Okweziele Nwodo remarked that this is the last hope of our party to come back to power and we only do that by voting for people who have the vision of our founding fathers.

He implored delegates in the zone to do the needful by electing Adeniran because he is a true party man who has seen everything since the return of this democratic dispensation.

Speaking during the event, the aspirant, Adeniran described the Northwest as the political nerve centre of the country.“I believe if I come to you and appeal to you and we join hands with other zones as your friend and brother, you will support me in the crusade of building a new a new party,” he said.
