Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, yesterday, removed five members of his cabinet and replaced them with six new commissioners, including Alhaji Illiasu Musa Kwankwaso, nephew of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso in readiness for his reelection in 2019.

Illiasu Kwankwaso, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), was until his recent appointment as commissioner for special duties, a political associate of former governor and Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau.

Also, the appointment of Aminu Muktar Dan Amu, former economic adviser and Commissioner for Finance under Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is indicative of a possible rapprochement between Ganduje and his benefactor and predecessor.

Other new appointees are, Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Kano Ibrahim Muktar (Justice); Hajia Aisha Ja’afar (Budget and Economic Planning); and Aminu Aliyu (Works, Transport and Housing).

Speaking shortly after the new commissioners took the oath of office, Ganduje warned them to be wary of politics, stressing that their appointment was based on credibility, integrity and acceptance in their various constituencies.
