First Republic Minister of Aviation, Dara Mbazulike Amaechi has endorsed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 18 Anambra State governorship election, Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze.

Using a traditional staff as a symbol of his loyalty and commitment to endorse Obaze over the weekend, the Ukpor-born politician expressed optimism that the electoral contest will be won by the PDP.

Though he acknowledged the fact that there are tough challenges in the powers of incumbency of at both the state and federal levels, Amaechi did not waver in his conviction about PDP’s vicory.

While presenting the insignia to Obaze, he said, “This staff is for you as a symbol of my utmost support and assurance that you will be the next governor of Anambra come March 17, 2018. I am 89 years and will be celebrating my 90th birthday on June 16. I want you to celebrate it with me as governor.

“You are a good man and your relationship with elders like me while you served under erstwhile Governor Peter Obi as Secretary to State Government (SSG) was enough proof that you have all the ingredients of good leadership.
Besides, there is no other candidate in this election that matches you in pedigree and the required ingredients to be a governor of a state like Anambra.”

He added that it was time Anambra State reconnected to the national political grid, emphasisng the fact that there are only two political parties, the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) that have national outlook and Anambra had been an outsider for too long.

He noted that although Obi tried to manage the handicap very well while he was in office “our state didn’t actually feel left out of the main thrust of events. Unfortunately, what we have now as government is truly leaving Anambra far behind.”

While accepting the staff, in the company of his running mate, Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, the PDP candidate thanked the octogenarian for his kind words and gave assurance that he will never disappoint as governor if voted in by the electorate.

This courtesy visit by Obaze and his OHO Campaign Team took place Amaechi’s Amihe Ukpor home, where the only road passing through the community that was flagged off and was nearly 60 per cent completed by Obi but had been allegedly abandoned by the incumbent governor, Mr. Willie Obiano.
