Buhari’s anti-graft war gets more support
A socio-political group, United Democratic Forum (UDF), has warned against frustrating efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to tame the monster of corruption in the country.
The group said only enemies of the country’s development would hesitate to support the current war against corruption. The group however enjoined the Federal Government to be fair in its fight against the scourge, saying there should not be sacred cows and scapegoats.
Ondo State Coordinator of the group, Oseni Bamisile Oscar, said in Akure yesterday while inaugurating local government coordinators, that those who had brought the country to its knees were not only in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but found in all the political platforms.
Oseni urged President Buhari not to give the impression that the war was only against members of PDP, noting that this would rob his effort of credibility.
He said, “We support the current war being waged against corruption in the country. The monster has brought Nigeria to her knees and robbed her of her greatness. “It is our position that it is only those who don’t have the interest of the country at heart that will discourage efforts to tackle the problem.
But our concern is that the way the war is being prosecuted, it seems PDP members are the targets. “There is need for fairness in order to make the war credible. But in a situation where there are sacred cows and scapegoats, the war will fail because people will see it as being selective.”
