Despite uncertainties surrounding his faith in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and recent romance with the Presidency, the Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has denied dumping the PDP for any party. For sometime now, rumour has been rife that Ayade plans to cross to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent visit to the governor and for accompanying the President to Togo last week, heightened speculation that he might leave PDP for the APC.

Reacting, the Press Secretary and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Christian Ita, in a brief statement yesterday, said, “there is absolutely no truth in the report that Governor Ayade is defecting to the APC. It is fake news. It is an imagination of the author of the report. The Governor has a relationship with the president based on governance. There is a need for us as a people to understand that governance is different from politics. Ayade is a committed PDP member.”
