10 Nasarawa APC governorship aspirants threaten to dump party
A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants has issued warning to Governor Tanko Al-Makura to allow equal level-playing ground in the forth-coming primaries or risk massive defection.
The coalition, which is made up of 10 governorship aspirants, in a press conference yesterday, said Al-Makura had derailed by preferring Abdullahi Sule over other aspirants.
The group, which expressed disappointment over the governor’s decision when he had earlier vowed never to support any aspirant, cautioned him to desist from the gross erroneous and selfish steps.
In another development, plans by former Minority Leader at the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and Atuekong Don Etiebet to present the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Managing Director, Mr. Nsima Ekere, as APC’s consensus governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State has been rejected.
A group said the proposed consensus arrangement is totally condemned and should be regarded as the personal opinion of the duo and “if there should be a consensus plan, it should be in favour of Eket Federal Constituency to enable them complete their remaining four years.”
Also, some groups in Eket Senatorial District said the coming of Akpabio into APC would tear the party apart in the state and rob it the chances of winning 2019 election.
The groups, which condemned the action, said: “Senator Godswill Akpabio and Atuekong Etiebiet should purge themselves of the impunity and imposition virus they carried over from the PDP, as such behaviour will not be tolerated in the APC.”
