Police reinstate protection for Sanusi, deploy more personnel to Bayero

New CP resumes, pledges adequate security

The Kano State Police Command has finally deployed heavily armed security to the palace of reinstated Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, while all non-state actors loitering within the premises were chased away.

Similarly, the command deployed more personnel to the Nassarawa palace occupied by Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. Outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Usaini Gumel, disclosed this to journalists in Kano yesterday, insisting that the protection of lives and property remains the paramount duty of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said the deployment was to check security threats and maintain peace pending outcome of the Emirship tussle in courts. The police chief stated that the command reinforced deployment plans following recent upsurge in thuggery and infighting that threatened the peace of the state.

“Armed personnel have been deployed to provide security at the Kofar Kudu Palace, the residence of Emir Sanusi, and the Nasarawa Mimi Palace, the residence of Emir Bayero,” he clarified.

Gumel appealed to the public to support the police in the discharge of their duties, urging residents to provide information that could promote peace, progress and political stability in the ancient city. He restated the command’s commitment to providing the required security to enable residents go about their legitimate activities without fear.

MEANWHILE, a new CP, Salman Dogo Garba, has assumed duties, pledging his readiness to ensure adequate security of life and property. During a farewell at the Officers Mess, Bompai Kano, organised in honour of his predecessor, Gumel, who was promoted to AIG, the new CP solicited the support and cooperation of officers and men of the command, as well as the public. The outgone CP urged the officers and public to accord same support he had to his successor.
