PDP moves to reclaim power in Anambra 18 years after

Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State have decided to forgo personal interests and ensure that the party returns to power in the 2025 governorship election in the state.

PDP lost power in Anambra 18 years ago, following internal squabble. Efforts to reclaim control of the state had not worked due to infighting.

A member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) from the state, Ugochukwu Okeke, who disclosed this to newsmen, yesterday, in Enugu, stated that PDP in the state is putting its house in order to ensure that it bounces back in the state in the next governorship election next year.

Okeke, whose membership of PDP BoT was ratified recently at the 76th meeting of the board, assured PDP faithful and people of the state that the good old times would be back soon.

He said: “Anambra State is a major stronghold of PDP. The tactics of opposing parties had been to first instigate division within the party and, subsequently, use PDP the structure to defeat the party in the election. “

“But that is a thing of the past now. Our major stakeholders have basically agreed that there’s a need to maintain peace within the party for successes to be recorded, and we are working together in the overall interest of the party and Ndi Anambra.”
