The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe has described as untrue the reports that he was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Earlier on Tuesday, a tweet via Orubebe’s Twitter handle, @ElderGOrubebe, claimed that the PDP chieftain had concluded plans to join “my folks” in the APC.
The tweet purportedly composed by Orubebe reads: “I have concluded plans to join my folks in the APC to champion and sustain the movement for a better Niger Delta in the new administration ”
He has however denied defecting in a series of tweets to his Twitter account
Neither myself nor my supporters have any intention to defect to the APC. I have ordered that earlier message be deleted. It wasn't from me.

The news of his alleged defection was met with widespread criticisms for what many termed his lack of ideology and for wanting to join a party he had accused of rigging the last presidential elections in connivance with the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega.
Orubebe, who was a PDP agent at the presidential election results collation centre protested openly at the collation centre and pointedly accused Jega of being biased against his principal, President Good luck Jonathan.
