A clash between farmers and herdsmen in Akaeze, Ivo local government area of Ebonyi State yesterday left four persons from both sides seriously injured.

Sir, the long overdue solution for the herdsmen/farmers clash still far to sight as the issue is escalating day by day. The clash is as old as the countries fourth Republic, claiming thousands of lives and properties.

It’s trendy re-occurrence is despicable which is owned to the failure in the side of the Government to bring about a permanent way of solving the issue.

A number of statistics has shown how and why the herdsmen clash is more of a security threat than that of Boko Haram in this current administration. Even the number of affected states speaks for themselves. Regrettably, humanity has taken so low in affected states.

People are dying, lots of property are being lost as this herdsmen attack.

Statistically 525 people killed by the herdsmen in 2015(The Punch-May 28,2016).

By 2016;3500 people killed and 62,000 people displaced; and 13.7 billion lost in the clashes and 47 per cent of the internally generated revenue in the affected states lost(columnist, Fulani herdsmen? Here are the grim statistic, By Dan Agbese, November 3,2017).those are just a conservative figure.

Also, just as Borno became the capital of Boko Haram with more victims, so also is Benue the capital of herdsmen. Other states that have experienced attacks from the dreaded heartless herdsmen are: Kaduna, Ekiti, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Imo, Enugu, Zamfara and Delta respectively.

Judging from this figure, one needs not to be told how humanity has taken so low as regards lost of human lives.

What is the government doing about this issue that is causing unrest in the country? In addition the government has failed to provide Nigerians with the accurate information as regard the chief engineers of the clash as well as who provide the herdsmen with sophisticated machine guns they use for attacks, assaults and to intimidate powerless citizens of the state(Nigeria)The government is more of reactive, showing weakness, blaming and accusing attitude.

If the government can dismantle the Boko Haram (even though they have not totally put an end to them but are under control) and the indeginious people of Biafra(IPOB), how much more of the Fulani herdsmen?.
