Urge Ilaje people to keep eagle eyes on deputy for continuity

The Ondo State Government has assured the people of its commitment to pursue policies and programmes that would accelerate economic development in the state.

The state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who gave the assurance at a grand reception organised in honour of his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, by the Ilaje League of Professionals (ILP), described the reception as vital to the state development, urging members of the group to always keep eagle eyes on the deputy governor not to derail but remain focused.

According to him, hardwork and loyalty were the main reasons behind his choice of Aiyedatiwa as his running mate in the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state. He said his deputy had displayed unreserved commitment and support to his political aspirations from the beginning.

He also disclosed that efforts were being intensified to ensure electricity supply to the southern part of the state. Akeredolu who used the occasion to reiterate the commitment of his administration to getting through the Port Ondo project however expressed concerns that the expected approval for Port Declaration for Port Ondo has not been given despite having submitted its Business Case outline.

In his remarks, Chairman, Ilaje League of Professionals, Mr. Benson Obayelu, said this was the first time in the 45-year history of Ondo State that the Ilaje linguistic group was producing a deputy governor.

According to him, ILP has been in existence for over a decade and is a group of like-minded indigenes of Ilaje Local Council, saying: “We must remark that we have made some modest marks thus far in respect of our goals but there is always a gulf to fill when developmental issues are under consideration.”
