The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Olayide Adelami, has pledged unwavering loyalty to his new principal, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, affirming his commitment to the administration’s goals.

Adelami, who was sworn in, yesterday, at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), expressed his avowal to work in tandem with the governor to advance the development and progress of the state.

The deputy governor, a kinsman of the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was nominated last week by Aiyedatiwa, expressed his readiness to actively engage with the governor and other stakeholders to address critical issues and pursue initiatives that would enhance the welfare of the people.

Adelami, while seeking the support of everyone for the administration, said that since Aiyedatiwa became governor, the state had been witnessing a series of strides.

Aiyedatiwa, while congratulating the deputy governor on his appointment, described him as a technocrat and seasoned administrator.

He said he would put his experience to use in the administration of the state.

The governor, who admonished Adelami against discrimination, said that the dissolution of the State Executive Council (SEC) was done in order not to allow politics to affect the running of government during an election year.

Meanwhile, ahead of the November governorship election in the state, some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southern Senatorial District of the state, yesterday, drummed support for Aiyedatiwa as the best among the aspirants to clinch the ticket of the party.

The leaders, after a meeting in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Council of the state, vowed to take the gospel of Aiyedatiwa to the nooks and crannies of the district.

According to them, everyone will work as a team to ensure that he is elected as the state governor after completing the term of his late boss, Akeredolu.

The meeting, which was attended by past political appointees, leaders and members of APC from the six local councils in the senatorial district, advised that a situation where Aiyedatiwa would be denied the ticket must be avoided to prevent the Edo State scenario when Governor Godwin Obaseki moved for APC to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

One of the leaders of the party, Prof. Simidele Odimayo from Irele Local Council, who spoke on behalf of other leaders, said they were prepared for any mode of primary election.
