Seventy-four political parties, under the aegis of the Conference of De-Registered Political Parties in Nigeria (CDPPN), have collapsed their organisational structures for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.

The move, which is coming ahead of the November 2024 governorship election in the state, was disclosed in a statement by John Akinduro, spokesperson to Ondo State Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami.

The CDPPN is a composition of political parties that were deregistered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At a meeting with the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Akure on Wednesday, the group, led by an APC stalwart, Prof. William Olu-Aderounmu, said the governor exhibits the necessary administrative and political qualities required to take the state to the next level of development.

Aderounmu cited the ongoing projects across the state as the reason the CDPPN came to declare support for the governor, whom he described as “cerebral, amiable, and focused.”

In his address, Ondo State Coordinator of CDPPN, Rotimi Akindejoye, lauded the governor for his stellar performance and leadership style.

Akindejoye said they are de-registered but not tired, disclosing that their organisation has structures that are willing to work for the governor across the 203 wards in Ondo State.

Representative of People Living with Disabilities, Elegbeleye Sanmi, appreciated the governor for including their members in every program and project of the state government.

In his reaction, the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Adelami, assured that the CDPPN will be integrated into the APC structure at all levels.

He said the party will keep welcoming everyone willing to join the progressives for a greater Nigeria.
