Oladokun draws Tinubu’s attention to private sector

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Self-reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP), Olatunde Oladokun, has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider the private sector in his economic policies.

Speaking during the mid-year praise programme of SEAP, in Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday, Oladokun said the cost of doing business in the country should be reduced, for those in the private sector to survive.

The organisation lauded the Federal Government under Tinubu for his proactive policies since assumption of office, but noted: “We, in the private sector, are patiently waiting for collaborations with government and we want to hear some economic pronouncements that will favour us.

“For instance, the cost of running business in Nigeria is still very high. We want the government to help us look into it and bring it down. We are employers of labour and should be compensated for helping greatly in reducing unemployment in the country.”

Reacting to the students’ loan act recently signed by Tinubu, SEAP urged government to route such loans through viable and seasoned macro and micro financial groups, for even spread to the grassroots.

Besides, he canvassed soft loans for graduates after their National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) endeavours as a means of eradicating joblessness.

He said: “It will be a sudden change of fortune for younger Nigerians, who were collecting stipends during their NYSC, and eventually find themselves groping in the labour market. They need mobilisation as well.”

Oladokun urged Nigerians to rededicate themselves to divine endeavours that would restore, among them, love, peace and unity.

“These are the virtues lacking in our nation that are making some to clamour for secession and others resource control and so on,” he added.
