The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation for 13 courses out of the 16 assessed at Gregory University Uturu (GUU), Abia State.
The other three courses got provisional approval. In a letter conveying the accreditation to the 12-year-old institution, NUC’s acting Director, Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu listed the courses granted full accreditation as Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Geology, Anatomy, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Radiation Sciences, Education Mathematics, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, French Language, History and International Studies.
Reacting to the NUC assessment report, GUU’s acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Celestina Njoku, told The Guardian that the university currently runs 57 competitive NUC-accredited programmes spread across 10 colleges and school of post graduate studies.
She pledged that GUU would sustain a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship with NUC, while reaffirming the university’s commitment to high standards and quality assurance.
Njoku also commended the staff and students of the institution for their sustained dedication to academic excellence.
