The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) met yesterday to harmonise the procedure for the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as the new Super Eagles’ chief coach.

The NSC at the weekend frowned t the manner Oliseh’s appointment as Super Eagles’ coach was handled, saying it did not meet the stipulated civil service process for such engagements.

It threatened to halt the unveiling of the Super Eagles’ former captain planned for tomorrow because the NFF fell foul of the provisions of the Procurement Act.

Apart from the Oliseh’s appointment, The Guardian gathered that the bodies also discussed plans for this weekend’s Rio 2016 Olympics qualifier between Nigeria and Congo in Port Harcourt.

NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, said the parley became necessary because the Samson Siasia-led national Under-23 team was playing in a competition that is solely under the control of the NSC, stressing that both the All African Games for which the team has already qualified, and the Olympic Games were sponsored by the Federal Government through the NSC.

“All we are doing is to provide all the necessary assistance to the team to ensure that they picked the qualifying ticket for Nigeria. The NSC owns and prepares the teams since they are going for both the All African Games and Olympic Games, which football is just one of the sports Nigeria seeks to participate in,” Sanusi disclosed.
