Nigeria to host Agric Machines, Equipment, Technology Expo

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBNetwork Global Concept, and other major stakeholders, is set to host the world at the Africa Agricultural Machines Equipment and Technology Expo (AAMETEX) in Abuja.

The expo’s 3rd edition, slated to be held from November 12 to 15, 2024, carries the theme “Transforming Africa’s Agriculture through Technology and Innovation.”

According to the Director of Federal Development of Agriculture at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Engr. Abdullahi Garba Abubakar, at the inaugural brainstorming session with other stakeholders in agriculture and government agencies, there was an emphasis on the need for modern agriculture and innovation to ensure food and nutrition security.

AAMETEX 2023 is designed as a forum to highlight and promote numerous investment opportunities in Africa’s Agriculture and Agribusiness ecosystems through the design and development of innovative Agricultural Equipment, Machinery, and Technologies, aligning with Africa’s economic diversification agenda and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiative.

This platform will provide organisations with immense opportunities for visibility, business networking, and symbiotic relationships for growth and development resulting from interaction among participants drawn from across the African Continent and the world at large.

Further highlighting the expo’s purpose, he stressed that the Africa Agricultural Machines Equipment and Technology Expo promises to showcase the best proven practical solutions from Africa and around the world in addressing issues affecting agricultural mechanisation and food insufficiencies in Africa’s economy.

Over 2000 participants and exhibitors are expected at this event, comprising Heads of Government, Government Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, Trade Groups and Associations, farmers from across Africa, as well as venture capitalists, policymakers, technocrats, financial institutions, machinery, and equipment vendors from across the globe. AAMETEX will feature plenary sessions, interactive sessions, breakout sessions, B2B meetings, exhibitions with corporate spotlights from different organisations, and country experience sharing, among other activities.

The event director, Prince Gbenga Agboola, further highlighted that the event will address different thematic areas to promote global investments and trade development, increase market competitiveness, and foreign direct investments, and promote accelerated development in the agricultural sector.

He stated that the event will feature plenary sessions, meetings, and exhibitions, among several other features. At the end of the expo, the conveners, along with relevant stakeholders, will develop a roadmap to be religiously followed and implemented to develop the sector in line with global competitiveness for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
