NFF finally seals kits’ deal, Flying Eagles to launch jersey in New Zealand

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday in London signed a new kit sponsorship deal with American sports wear manufacturing company, Nike, which will provide jerseys and boots for the national teams from April 1 till at least 2018.

The NFF party to the contract signing included its President, Amaju Pinnick, Marketing Committee chairman, Emeka Inyama, executive committee member, Ibrahim Gusau, NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, Super Eagles’ Coach, Stephen Keshi, Ademola Olajire, who is the head of Communications and Okey Obi of the legal department.

This new deal means Nike is NFF’s new technical sponsor, supporting all national team levels and grassroots development.

According to the terms of the agreement, “Nike will design performance and training apparel, and equipment, including team kits and footballs, for the national football team players at every level of the game.

“There will be an exclusive-edition team kit for all NFF teams until the 2016-17 kit launches in mid-2016. In addition, Nike will design an assortment of products for Nigerians to show their support for the national team, to be available from mid-2016.”

The Flying Eagles will be the first team to wear the new Nike kit when they feature at the FIFA u-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Speaking at the event, Nike Africa Vice President/General Manager, Laurent Payre, said, “We are very pleased to partner with the Nigeria Football Federation, one of Africa’s premier teams

“The passion for football in Nigeria is renowned and Nike is committed to supporting and advancing the game at all levels through inspiration and innovation for young men and women.”

To the NFF President, Pinnick, “this exciting partnership with Nike signifies our commitment toward building and strengthening a successful football future in Nigeria. The game enjoys a huge following across the country and we want to fuel participation and ultimately the success of our future national teams.”

Nigeria joins Nike’s portfolio of federation sponsorships, including Australia, Brazil, England, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea, the U.S. and others.
