Mr Arinze Igwe, Commander of Ilesa Unit of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun, has said that the unit would adopt zero tolerance to road crashes during the Easter period.

Igwe stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ilesa.

He stated that the traffic rules and regulations would be enforced fully to ensure safer roads in the area during the period.

He urged motorists to obtain valid driving license and install speed limiting devices in their vehicles.

Igwe also advised drivers and passengers to use seat belts to save them from fatal consequences in case of crashes.

He attributed road accidents to speeding, over loading, reckless driving, wrongful over taking, receiving calls during driving and alcohol intake, among others indulgences.

The commander appealed to travellers to desist from night travelling, saying ‘’it is risky and hazardous to humanity’’.

He explained that if anything happened in the night during the journey, “there might not be any one to rescue victims’’.

According to him, armed robbers operate during the night, while many lives get lost without remedy.

He reminded road users that the ‘’dead cannot celebrate”, and therefore advised them to “take life easy for it has no duplicate’’.
