Zamfara Reduces Ministries From 25 To 16

THE Zamfara State Government yesterday announced the decrease of the number of ministries, directorates and agencies (MDAs) in view of the present economic reality.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi, who briefed newsmen on the matter yesterday, said the committee saddled with the responsibility of conscious re-alignment of MDAs to a manageable size constituted by the state governor, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, under the leadership of the Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Umar, examined the situation and made recommendations.

Shinkafi said the government resolved to reduce the number of ministries from 25 to 16, adding that a few of the ministries, which had comparable features had been merged and would now be overseen by a commissioner.

Some of the ministries affected by the merger include; Youth, Skills Acquisition and Sports, Social Welfare and Community Development, Rural Development, Culture and Tourism, Transport, Animal Science and Afforestation, Lands and Housing.
