Youth gathering.

ABOUT 20 cities and towns within the Southeast and South-South geo-political zones will host mega rallies by first quarter of next year to push for the restructuring of the country along true federalism.

This is the outcome of a meeting in Enugu yesterday, attended by about 40 youth groups at the secretariat of Igbo Youth Movement (IYM).

Speaking after the meeting, founder of the IYM, Mr. Elliot Uko, explained that the peaceful marches for true federalism had become pertinent, “because Nigeria is overheated due principally to the unitary system of administration the military imposed in 1966.”

According to him, “for 49 years, Nigeria has been boiling consistently. The imposed peace of 1970 has worn out, everybody is on edge, June 12 election would not have been annulled if Nigeria were practising true federalism.
