Yobe closes IDPs camp, return 92 households to communities with N1.84M
The Yobe State Government has yesterday closed down the Bukar Ali resettlement camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), following
the liberation of three communities by the military in Damaturu Local
Areas of the state.
The liberated communities, according to Executive Secretary of Yobe
State Emergency anagement Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Musa Idi Jidawa, include Gambir, Malumti and Mattiri, comprising 391 displaced persons of 92 households.
Announcing the camp closure yesterday in Damaturu, Jidawa disclosed that each of the households was provided with a cash donation of N20, 000,relief materials and other household items to commence a new lease of life, after living in the camp since June 27, 2015.
He saids: “The camp before its closure today (yesterday) has a population of 391 IDPs, comprising 92 households. The IDPs had been
living here in this camp for 333 days, before government officially closes it and return the displaced persons to their respective communities, which had been liberated by the military early this year.
