World Bank to partner Oyo on developmental projects

The World Bank has concluded plans to grant about $6million dollars to Oyo state Government to complement the state effort in its socio economic development drive.

The leader of the World bank implementation mission on Youth Employment and Social Support Programme, Professor Foluso Okumadewa stated this during a courtesy call on Governor Abiola Ajimobi in his office.

Okumadewa commended the government for its developmental efforts and assured of the world banks support at all times.

“We want to commend you for your commitment, enthusiasm and strong determination for the development of Oyo State, we will to continue work with you so that the state will benefit more from the bank’, he said

He said the State Government would continue to enjoy further support from the World Bank because of the commitment of the present administration to create employment opportunities for the youths and improve the social welfare of the people.

He said in the last six years the World Bank had supported the state with over N1billion Naira while over 500,000 people have benefitted from the World Bank projects form all the 33 local Government councils in the state.

In his remarks, governor Ajimobi craved for the partnership of the World Bank in mechanized farming pointing out that the State has better agricultural advantages than other states in the Southwest.

Ajimobi also initiated a negotiation for increase in counterpart funding in an attempt to reconcile the State’s YES O project to the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Programme.
