politics-123rfThe Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese, Most Rev Camillus A. Etokudoh, has encouraged priests to get involve politics in order to sanitise the system.

The cleric said this while briefing journalists on the 2015 Bishops Conference, which would hold from September 10, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral Port Harcourt.

According to Bishop Etokudohn,”Priest and Bishops should be involved in politics because they are working with the people. Priest may not vie for any political offices but can be involved in advisory capacity”.

“The priests do not aspire to be a governor, senator or president. We are careful about practicing politics but our priest are encouraged also to be more involved in politics by giving advice.”

He said politics is not a dirty game and priests should go into it and wash it clean, sanitize it and not wait until the dirt get to them, either by corrupt officials or their flock.

“There are positions that a priest cannot hold. A priest cannot be medical doctor but he can be a Chaplain. A medical doctor, who does abortion, is not fit to be a doctor, because he has ceased to encourage people on moral living.
