Abia State Police, yesterday, chased out a faction of the state All Progressives Congress (APC) holding a meeting at the state’s secretariat in Umuahia, the state capital.

There are two parallel state executives/leadership of the party led by Chief Donatus Nwankpa and Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe.

Chief Donatus Nwankpa has been the state Chairman before the reported emergence of Ndukwe leadership, following a state high court verdict of March 8, 2018 declaring him as the state Chairman, thus sacking Nwankpa’s leadership.

But attempt to take over the state APC Secretariat, yesterday, by the Ndukwe leadership did not materialise because during their meeting, the state Police team arrived the secretariat and ordered them to vacate the building.

While the Ndukwe faction was meeting at the secretariat, the Nwankpa faction was holding what he called a stakeholders’ meeting at a venue about two kilometres away from the secretariat.

Nwankpa said the Ndukwe faction had no right to be in the state party secretariat, describing the Police action as appropriate.
