Vote for those who believe in you, Fayose declares

•Says Jonathan to unveil Ekiti first flyover tomorrow
•Elections not guess work but strategy, says INEC boss
•EU trains officials on PWD

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has charged the youths to vote for only those who share in their beliefs, aspirations and concerns.

Fayose made the appeal yesterday in Ado Ekiti, when Okada riders from the 16 local government areas stormed the state capital to support the governorship ambition of his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

He urged the youths to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, for seeing them as lazy and good-for-nothing citizens.

Fayose described the youths and women in the country as the highest voting population, and expressed concern that a president seeking re-election would deride and cast aspersion on the young people.

Fayose said the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to fulfill its promise to create three million jobs.

The governor disclosed that former President Goodluck Jonathan would visit Ekiti State tomorrow to commission the first flyover constructed by his administration.

He said: “Anybody that calls the youths lazy must be removed from office. We believe in you, we will stand by you and support you.”

Responding, Kolapo promised not to ban commercial motorcycles, if he emerges governor.

“Those who would chase you away from the roads must not be allowed to become governor. When they were in government, they messed up the economy and left a huge debt for us. We must not let them come back.”

The Chairman of the Okada riders in Ekiti State, Olaniyi Dahunsi said their solidarity was to allow the good works of Fayose’s administration to continue.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmud Yakubu has promised to conduct credible polls in 2019.

He made the pledge in Abuja when he received a delegation of Lesotho’s Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

Yakubu said technology has improved the conduct of elections, adding that they were no longer a matter of guesswork, but strategy.

Also, the European Union (EU) yesterday trained INEC workers from 36 states of the federation in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The bridge training was organised by European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) to provide a level playing ground in electoral processes for People with Disabilities (PWD).

The Project Director, Advisor in Governance and Capacity Building, Mr. Dominic Weerts, said the training was to equip desk officers to make persons with disabilities cast their vote with dignity and in privacy.

The National Chairman, Outreach and Partnership Committee, Adekunle Ogunmola, assured of INEC’s preparedness.

The Director Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi represented him.
