University don calls for equal opportunities for women

The Dean of faculty of social science, Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Paul Pindar Izah has stressed the need for women to be given equal opportunities as their men counterparts to enable them reach their full potentials and contribute their quota to nation building.

Izah stated this when he paid a courtesy visit on the management of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abuja stressing that no country can develop by neglecting and leaving half of its population behind.

He explained that his visit to the corps was to solicit cooperation and partnership from the FRSC in organising a conference for women in security, judiciary and law enforcement billed to hold July 18-20 in Abuja

  
Izah said the conference will recognise and elevate women that have excelled.His words: “If this is done, these women can serve as model to our daughters.”

He revealed that the conference will have as special guest of honour, the wife of the president,  Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, while the awards dinner will be graced by the wife of the former vice president, Mrs Titi Atiku Abubakar.

Earlier the director of the conference, Dr David Okoror, explained that the conference would further enhance the knowledge of the officers and help them build networks that will produce positive result in gender issues.
