Troops of 151 Battalion and 21 Brigade of Operation Lafiya Dole on Sunday killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush at the College of Education, Science and Technology, Bama along Ngurosoye road of Borno State.

Confirming the report, spokesman of the military, Brig-Gen Sani Usman, yesterday in a statement in Maiduguri said that: “The troops neutralized a large number of the Boko Haram terrorists, while other terrorists sustained gunshot wounds.”

Also, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Operation RUWAN WUTA (water-fire) destroyed buildings the insurgents use for meetings, before launching attacks on innocent citizens in Lake Chad region.

The Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya said the destruction of the buildings, were made after conducting an air interdiction on structures with two hoisted flags in Zanari on the shores of Lake Chad.

Similarly, an Islamic cleric, Mohammed Abdullahi, yesterday narrated how three suspected Boko Haram terrorists who fled Borno State were arrested in Ajao Estate area of Lagos last month.

Abdullahi stated this yesterday during a meeting between Lagos State Police boss, Imohimi Edgal and stakeholders in Area ‘D’ police Command at the Isolo Town hall.

He said: “We have been arresting fleeing Boko Haram members in Lagos. I do not know if it is as a result of the proximity to the airport. Most of the escapee members who came to Lagos have been arrested in Ajao Estate. Just three weeks ago, we arrested three of them.“We have a way of identifying them. The Seriki Hausa in Ajao Estate has the contact of all the Local Government Chairmen in Borno State”.

That way, we usually know those Boko Haram elements who have fled the area to other parts of the country.”Reacting to Abdullahi’s disclosure, Edgal assured that the police would verify the claims by the cleric because they were serious security issues.

He urged residents to be more vigilant, noting that Lagos cannot be isolated from security challenges in other parts of the country.“We all know that Lagos is the melting pot of the country. Because Lagos is functioning, we are getting influx of people at astronomical rate.

And the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) yesterday defended the operations of NAF over an allegation that it was behind the failings and prolonged war against Boko Haram terrorists in the northeast.

It said the report was not true and a deliberate misinformation about the NAF in particular and the Nigerian Armed Forces of Nigeria in general.Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj Gen John Enenche in a statement signed in Abuja yesterday said the Armed Forces of Nigeria are trained and have always operated jointly to achieve set objectives under a coordinated command and control centre, which is the Defence Headquarters.

Enenche noted that it is not possible for a single service or component to frustrate or derail the aim of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, stressing that the ill motivated publication against the Chief of Air Staff and the Nigerian Air Force should be disregarded.

Meanwhile, as part of security measures against the resurgence of Boko Haram threat in Kano, the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has banned movement of motorcycle with passengers in the metropolis.

Subsequently, the agency announced reactivation of mobile court to prosecute anybody found conveying passenger whether for commercial or private purpose. In accordance with the laws, culprit would be charged to six months imprisonment or #10,000 fine or both.

Addressing journalists at his office, the Managing Director of KAROTA, Mohammad Hadi revealed that the agency was recently informed of a plan by the insurgents to regroup in some Northern states including Kano with the intent of wrecking havoc.
