The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Prof. James Ayatse, has invoked the wrath of his ancestors against anyone who diverts the relief materials meant for the internally displaced persons.

The monarch, who is the chairman of Benue Council of Chiefs, gave the warning when he led traditional rulers to present relief materials to a camp at the New Makurdi International Market.

He urged the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to shun any form of sharp practices but to ensure that there is strict disbursement of the materials.

He said: “Anybody who diverts the relief materials shall not go unpunished. As chiefs, we represent our ancestors and also talk to God. So anyone who violates my counsel by diverting the relief materials donated to the people affected by flood, God and the gods shall be angry with such perpetrators and shall not go unpunished.”

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Samuel Ortom for their timely intervention in the crisis.
