Three die in Ogun road accident

Three persons were confirmed dead, while others were injured yesterday in an accident involving a motorcycle popularly called “Okada” and a truck in Alagbon area along Owode-Idiroko road, Ogun State.

The Spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident to journalists, disclosed that the motorcycle carrying six persons lost control, while the oncoming truck ran over them.

Akinbiyi added that out of the six passengers on the motorcycle, one female and two males died, while the remaining three were seriously injured.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the injured were taken to King Cross hospital in Owode.

In Ekiti, an eyewitness, who gave his name as Dayo, told newsmen that two gunmen killed the owner of Olainukan Hotel, along Irele-Ekiti road. The deceased, who is the son of the late king of the town, Oba Omotayo Ogunbiyi, was attacked while discussing with an unnamed staff within the hotel premises.

The eyewitness added that on sighting the gunmen, the deceased tried to run but was unlucky as the assailants shot him.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti, Alberto Adeyemi, said he had been informed of the attack, but was awaiting briefing from the Divisional Police Officer.
