Barely a week it won two awards at the .ng Media Awards, The Guardian has been nominated in two categories at the second edition of the West Africa Mobile Awards holding on May 18.

The awards recognise the region’s leading mobile and tech companies.

“Following the success of last year’s WAMAS, 2017 has produced a vast array of entries from exciting new technologies and services, from startups to established ventures driving progress in West Africa,” organisers said in a statement.

The Guardian was nominated in the Mobile Marketing Campaign category alongside Bloom Interactive, Cloomify, Tecno Mobile, and Unilever. It is also up against BattaBox, Bloom Interactive, Media Navigation and Optiweb Communications in the Social, News and Entertainment category.

The media house is the only mainstream Nigerian print outlet nominated for the awards with entries from 14 West African countries.

At the .ng Media Awards held last Friday, The Guardian won the best print media website and best-supporting media partner awards.

In the last two years, the flagship of Nigerian print journalism has redefined digital publishing within the Nigerian media space, adopting a more robust approach to news dissemination.

With its revamped news website, the launch of Guardian TV and rich perspectives on news sharing across its different social media platforms, the media house has evolved to become a leading digital player in Africa.
