An 18-year-old girl, Aisha Idris, has been arrested for selling her three-month-old baby for N200,000 in Katsina State.

Briefing newsmen yesterday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Usman Abdullahi, said Idris conspired with a nurse, one Ogugua Oko, to sell the baby.

Oko, who works with the Federal Medical Centre in the state, allegedly sold the baby to one Mrs. Grace Ohoho, residing in Okuku village, Imo State.

Speaking with newsmen, Ohoho confessed that she was married for 18 years without a child and therefore latched on the opportunity to buy a baby.

On her part, Idris said she was initially planning to abandon the baby due to lack of finance, when the idea came for her to sell the baby, adding that it was better to sell the baby than to throw away.
