A 22-year-old suspect, Ebele Victor, who used 600mg of tramadol before carrying out robbery operation in Ondo State, has been arrested. While parading the suspect alongside others at the police command in Akure yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, said the police received a distress call from a woman, Foyinsola Ologunnagba.

Victor was lying in coma at the parade ground due to the adverse effects of the drug abuse, which he took before the operation. According to him, the woman who lived around Jojein Hotel, Oba-Ile Road, Akure, reported that the hoodlums scaled her fence and entered the house. He added that the police swung to action immediately.

“On interrogation, he confessed scaling the fence to rob and that he was under influence of Tramadol and that he took 600MG and (SK) ‘No Bible’ a brand of Indian hemp.”

The police spokesperson also said there was a lone fatal accident, which occurred yesterday morning and killed one Osaze of No. 15, Second Lubiore Street, Benin City, who was coming from De-Planet Club house severely drunk, along Fajuyi road, inside Owo town.

Joseph said the deceased was driving a Honda Accord car with Reg. No. Lagos LSD 437 EI. “He veered out of the road, somersaulted severally and crashed into the roadside. The driver who was the only person in the car died on the spot. Recovered from his pocket were two Andriod phones, two identity cards and the sum of N10,800,” he said adding that his body had been deposited at FMC Hospital mortuary, Owo.

Also, an impersonator and self-professed lawyer, Taye Mapayi, who aided and abetted the escape of two armed robbery suspects from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) detention, had been nabbed.

According to the police, Mapayi was arrested by the detectives for the mysterious escape of Rotimi Adeleye and Bukola Adeoye on July 30, but was arrested during a robbery operation at Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo local council.

“Mapayi who has been parading himself as a lawyer aided the escape of the two suspects from our custody. The same fake lawyer cut off the handcuffs in the hands of the two robbery suspects.”
