AS part of efforts to improve the survival rate of neonatal in Nigeria, the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN) in conjunction with Anu Dosekun Healthcare Foundation is organising Better Chance for Babies concert today at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, by 5 pm.

Briefing the media on the initiative yesterday, Founder of Anu Dosekun Healthcare Foundation, Dr Efunbo Dosekun, a paediatrician, stated that the concert is aimed to raise awareness on the issues of neonatal deaths in Nigeria, adding that all hands must be on deck to reduce the burden of neonatal death in the country. The theme of the concert is Crossroads.

According to the Nigerian Academy of Science and Saving Newborn Nigerian Lives, Nigeria has the third highest neonatal mortality rate in the world, as one out of every 20 babies dies in Nigeria.

Dosekun said, “most of the ailments and diseases that threaten the lives of children are actually treatable” and called on parents to seek early medical care for their infants.
