SDP cautions Adamawa Govt against neglecting rural areas, diverting bailout fund
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa has cautioned the state government against concentrating development projects in Yola, the state capital.
A statement on Monday by the state Chairman of the party, Mr Ibrahim Bebetu, also cautioned the administration against misusing the bailout fund secured from the Central bank of Nigeria.
It querried the government for concentrating most projects in Yola and Jimeta, thereby neglecting other areas in the state.
Bebetu observed that majority of people in the state reside in rural areas, as such it was imperative for the government to carry them along in its development plans.
“Why should money meant to be shared among 21 Local Government Areas be spent on projects mainly centered in Jimeta and Yola?” he queried.
On the bailout fund, the state SDP chairman stated that it must be utilised for the purpose it was meant for.
“This money was specifically doled out by the Federal Government to pay-off the backlog of salaries owed public workers across the country.” Bebetu noted.
